Have A Gay Day Founder Awarded PFLAG’s Prestigious Morty Manford Volunteerism Award

PFLAG National awarded Michael Knote, the founder and Executive Director of Have A Gay Day, a non-profit LGBTQ+ organization based in Dayton, Ohio, with the esteemed Morty Manford Volunteerism Award on Saturday.

This prestigious accolade, named after the son of PFLAG National’s founder Jeanne Manford, acknowledges Michael’s outstanding commitment to volunteerism and his tireless efforts in making a positive impact within our community.

Michael Knote’s contributions have touched the lives of countless LGBTQ+ individuals and their allies in the Dayton community and across the Nation.

As noted during the ceremony, Have A Gay Day, in partnership with PFLAG National, launched a nationwide digital billboard campaign in 2022 to display messages of support, hope and encouragement for the LGBTQ+ community, centered on transgender and nonbinary youth and their families.

While the mission of the organization focuses on the LGBTQ+ community and their allies, Have A Gay Day continually navigates to make a positive impact for the whole community. Currently this organization runs a food pantry, pet food pantry, delivers food to those that can’t make it into their location, and tries to always accommodate the needs of the community.

They believe in filling the voids of service and meeting the needs. While this is an LGBTQ+ organization, the doors and services are open to all. Have A Gay Day currently has nearly 1.5M followers on Facebook; follow them at https://www.facebook.com/mygayday and on Instagram at @mygayday.
