Anti-Vaccine Televangelist Dies After His Alternative Covid Treatments Failed

Televangelist Marcus Lamb, who once compared LGBTQ people to “drug addicts and shoplifters” and vocally opposed Covid-19 vaccines, has died at 64, weeks after he contracted Covid-19.

Lamb was the co-founder and former CEO of the conservative Christian Daystar Television Network which regularly hosted anti-vaccine activists, including Sherri Tenpenny, who believes that vaccines make people magnetic.

“It’s with a heavy heart we announce that Marcus Lamb, president and founder of Daystar Television Network, went home to be with the Lord this morning,” the network said in a tweet Tuesday. “The family asks that their privacy be respected as they grieve this difficult loss. Please continue to lift them up in prayer.”

Lamb’s son, Jonathan Lamb, filled in for his father on a Nov. 23 Daystar broadcast and urged listeners to pray for his father’s recovery from Covid-19.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that this is a spiritual attack from the enemy,” his son said on the Nov. 23 broadcast. “As much as my parents have gone on here to kind of inform everyone about everything going on to the pandemic and some of the ways to treat COVID — there’s no doubt that the enemy is not happy about that.”

Joni Lamb said on the broadcast that her husband had tried alternative treatments but was not able to recover from his covid infection.

The network has dedicated hours of broadcasts to anti-lockdown and anti-vaccination activists and groups.

“In July 2020, the Lamb family devoted an hour of their broadcast to ‘censorship’ around the Covid pandemic, featuring the misinformation group America’s Frontline Doctors,” reports NBC News. “In May, Daystar broadcast an hourlong program with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., whose famous family denounced his anti-vaccination views in May 2019. Kennedy was recently banned by Instagram for posting Covid vaccination misinformation.”

In recent months, a number of prominent anti-vaccination Christian broadcasters have died from Covid-19. Conservative radio hosts Dick Farrell, Phil Valentine and Marc Bernier, who were unvaccinated, all died after they contracted Covid.

Daystar has also promoted conversion therapy, talking with “former gay and lesbian guests” who learned “the importance of discovering wholeness in Jesus Christ” on one show.

Joni Lamb helped promote Gay Awareness, a book that “exposes false teaching and deception that have created a false identity through the lens of sexuality instead of the eyes of God’s Word.” The book’s promotional materials claims it was tested by “a focus group made up of individuals struggling with same sex attraction” who allegedly loved it.

In 2007, Marcus Lamb had a conservative activist on his show who opposed LGBTQ-inclusive hate crimes legislation and called it an attempt to “overthrow the nation” and “close down every church in America.”

“What’s next?” Lamb replied. “A hate crimes bill for drug addicts and shoplifters?”
