Anti-Mask Florida Dad Arrested For Violently Attacking Female Student On School Grounds

An anti-masker dad in Fort Lauderdale, Florida was arrested Wednesday morning after he attacked a student at his daughter’s high school, reports CBS Miami.

Dan Bauman, 50, and his 15-year-old daughter, Isabel, had been protesting and filming at the school for several days after officials refused to allow her to enter without a mask.

The father was standing at the front entrance to Fort Lauderdale High School about 7:25 a.m. filming a student because she was wearing a mask, according to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department.

The student said “I’ve had enough for four days” before trying to grab Bauman’s phone. Bauman then shoved the student before grabbing her arm and twisting it, an arrest report says.

In a statement, police explained, “Bauman accompanied his daughter as she attempted to enter the school gate without a mask. Bauman was videotaping other students with his phone and causing a disturbance at the gate.”

“One of the students (victim) did not want to be videotaped. The student attempted to grab Bauman’s phone. He responded by pushing the student backwards into the fence,” police added.

Bauman was “immediately taken into custody” and charged with one count of aggravated child abuse, police said. He was booked into the Broward County Jail after his arrest.

Sean Curran, the school’s interim principal, said the school has tried to reason with the Bauman family and explain what exceptions are available.

“Our kids are incredible,” Curran told WFOR. “Every single one of them is wearing it and are supportive of what the measures are to keep everyone safe.”
