GOP Lawmaker Mocks LGBT Americans, Demands Democrats Call Her A Man As She Attacks Equality Act

GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert (CO) unleashed a bizarre rant railing against the Equality Act, legislation currently under debate in the Senate that would update federal law to include protections for Americans based on sexual orientation and gender identity in everyday life.

Boebert claimed the bill was an attack on religious liberty in a meeting with supporters at a Montrose saloon, according to Facebook video posted online by the Montrose Daily Press.

“We all want equality, right?” Boebert told the crowd. “Must be a fantastic bill. Well, the Constitution right there in the preamble says that we are all equal, we have a 14th Amendment that says all men — and it’s okay to say men as a gender-neutral term — all men are created equal, are equal under the law.”

The crowd cheered on the lawmaker who could be seen with a firearm strapped to her thigh.

“You know, I’ve decided I don’t want Democrats to call me congresswoman,” Boebert said mockingly. “I want them to acknowledge that ‘man’ is a gender-neutral term, and they can call me ‘Congressman Boebert.'”

The crowd cheered as one woman could be heard saying, “I like it.”

Boebert then ominously warned the crowd about transgender men and women.

“Democrats under this legislation are seeking to replace mom and dad with bureaucrats,” Boebert warned.

The Democratic-led House passed the Equality Act last month, but the divided Senate is not expected to pass the bill as written, which would override federal law requiring the federal to show it has a compelling interest before curbing religious rights carving out exemptions to anti-discrimination laws.
