Racist Lyft Rider Hurls Homophobic Slurs, Threatens To Crush Hispanic Driver’s Skull Over Mask Policy

A white man has been banned from Lyft after launching into a racist and homophobic rant when the Hispanic driver asked him if he could wear a face mask inside his vehicle.

The passenger, who identified himself as Richard, was caught on a dashboard camera claiming the coronavirus was not real and threatening to “crush” the driver’s skull after he refused to cover his face.

The incident began on May 28, when Edgar arrived at 6 pm to collect Richard in Reno, Nevada, and take him home.

“By any chance do you have a mask?” Edgar politely asked.

“No I don’t,” replied Richard.

“Do you mind to put your shirt on top, here?” said Edgar. “I would really appreciate it.

“No, I can’t,” said Richard. “Do you believe in that s***?”

Edgar explained that he has family members that have been infected with COVID-19.

When Edgar’s GPS tells him to take the freeway, Richard announces: “I don’t like you. You ask me to wear a mask.”

“You don’t like me?” the driver responds. “You want to get out?”

“No, I want you to take my a** home and I’ll give you a s***y review,” the passenger responds.

The driver then asks the man to get out of the car.

Richard, growing increasingly furious, called him “a candy-assed f**got with white glasses.”

“I could f****** crush your skull right now,” Richard said.

The passenger was also seen mocking Edgar’s accent, saying: “You got “bideo”? You ever take English class?”

“Where are you from, boy?” he asks.

“I’m from here.”

“No, you’re not,” the passenger responds.

“Yes I am,” Edgar insists.

The passenger responds: “You’re a f*****g wetback.”

He would eventually get out of the vehicle.

Lyft has banned the customer.

“The behavior shown by the rider in this video is despicable and has no place on the Lyft platform,” the company said in a statement to TMZ. “Lyft is committed to maintaining an inclusive and welcoming community, and discrimination is not tolerated.”
