‘Officer Karen’ Goes Viral After Georgia Cop Breaks Down Over Having To Wait For McMuffin Order

A Georgia cop has gone viral after sharing her emotional breakdown after a long wait at a McDonald’s drive-thru made her “too nervous” to accept her breakfast order.

The officer named Stacey, who identified herself as a 15-year veteran of the force, filmed herself fighting back tears after she says she experienced delays in picking up a mobile order for a McMuffin, hashbrowns and coffee at a McDonald’s in Richmond Hill, just outside Savannah.

After bragging about strangers’ habit of purportedly paying for her food, she explains that she used the McDonald’s app to order ahead. A

“I’m on my way home from work,” she says in the clip. “When I pull up to the window, they hand me my receipt so I go to the second window to get my food. And I’m waiting and I’m waiting and I’m waiting. The girl comes to the window and asks me what my order was. I repeat my order and my coffee order and they ask me to pull up because my food’s not ready. It’s an English muffin meal with a hash brown and a coffee.”

After pulling to the side, the cop says a McDonald’s employee brought a coffee to her window while the rest of the order was being prepared.

“And that’s all she hands me is a coffee,” the cop says while fighting back tears before launching into a diatribe about respecting cops. “So I told her, I said, ‘Don’t bother with the food because now I’m too nervous to take it.’ It doesn’t matter how many hours I’ve been up. It doesn’t matter what I’ve done for anyone. Right now, I’m too nervous to take a meal from McDonald’s because I can’t see it being made. I don’t know what’s going on with people nowadays but please just give us a break. I don’t know how much more I can take.”

The video has racked up more than 6 million views on Twitter and has been dubbed by some users as “Officer Karen,” a name that has become shorthand for white women who complain about innocuous incidents.

“Black people are worried about getting killed in their sleep and cops are having nervous breakdowns about hash browns,” wrote one Twitter user.

“Police officers need to be able to handle high pressure, life or death situations, and Stacey has gone viral because her McMuffin was late.”

Others noted the video comes days after an unarmed black man, Rayshard Brooks, 27, was killed in a police confrontation that began after he fell asleep in his car at a Wendy’s drive-thru in Atlanta.

“Stacey’s sobbing because they forgot to give her a McMuffin while Rayshard Brooks is murdered in a Wendy’s parking lot,” one user wrote.
