‘Matrix’ Co-Director Tells Ivanka To ‘F-ck’ Off Then Helps Raise Money For LGBTQ Group

“Matrix” co-creator Lilly Wachowski ripped into Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and President Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump for quoting her movie.

On Sunday afternoon, Musk shared a cryptic tweet, saying “Take the red pill,” followed by a red rose:

The idea of a “red pill” comes from a scene in The Matrix in which Keanu Reeves’ character is told that everything he knows is a lie and given the choice to either take a blue pill and go back to his life and forget about everything or take a red pill to learn the truth about the Matrix and his fake reality.

Musk has been speaking out against measures taken to control the spread of the novel coronavirus, and last week, reopened his factory in violation of a stay-at-home order. Musk threatened to relocate Tesla’s headquarters and sue the Bay Area’s Alameda County for maintaining its shelter-in-place guidelines.

As Variety notes, the phrase “take the red pill” has “taken on a new meaning in Internet subculture, and it usually refers to conservative political beliefs. It can now mean shifting one’s political alignment to the right, and it’s often used in Internet forums related to Donald Trump or men’s rights groups.”

About an hour after Musk’s tweet, Ivanka tweeted: “Taken!”

Wachowski then fired back at both Musk and Ivanka, tweeting: “F-ck both of you”.

Donald Trump Jr. also weighed in, tweeting: “Welcome!”

Wachowski then shared a link to the LGBTQ organization Brave Space Alliance, urging people drawn in by the viral tweets to donate.

According to their website, Brave Space Alliance “was created to fill a gap in the organizing of and services to trans and gender-nonconforming people. Currently, very few LGBTQ social services or advocacy networks exist on the South and West Sides of Chicago. Furthermore, the few trans-specific resources in the city are located in majority-white neighborhoods on the North Side, which are inaccessible geographically, and also regularly result in the hyper-policing of trans people of color who attempt to access them.”

Musk’s girlfriend, singer Grimes, who gave birth to their first child on May 4, and Grimes’ mother, National Observer columnist Sandy Garossino, was not pleased to see Musk giving aid and comfort to misogynists, as these since-deleted tweets show:
