Pulse Memorial Mural In Orlando Vandalized With White Supremacist Propaganda

A Pulse memorial mural painted on the wall of a local LGBTQ+ aid organization in Orlando, Florida, has been vandalized with white supremacist propaganda, reports Orlando Weekly.

The vandalization was first reported by a poster on Reddit’s r/Orlando forum who noticed that the Pulse logo had been covered by stickers advertising Patriot Front, an organization identified by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a “white nationalist hate group.”

According to the SPLC, the group was formed in the aftermath of the deadly “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, and call for the formation of a white ethnostate.

“I was eating tacos next door to The Center (an LGBT organization) and wanted a photo of this mural,” the Reddit user wrote. “I took a picture then noticed something was covering the P. I walked up and it was a sticker of a man with a gun and an American flag type background.”

“Under it gave a website for the group Patriot Front. I was upset someone would vandalize the mural, ripped it down and threw it away, didn’t think to take a photo of the sticker. The ones at the bottom of this collage are similar,” they added. “Stay safe Orlando and fuck these guys. Rip down any stickers you see like this.”

The Center’s Facebook page reported on Wednesday that their phone lines had been cut, putting them temporarily out of commission.

The Anti-Defamation League reports that Patriot Front has been active in Central Florida over the last year.

As recently as April 25, the group distributed propaganda at University of Central Florida that read: “To ourselves and our posterity” and “Life liberty victory.” The group also distributed propaganda in Cocoa Beach two days earlier that read : “Our tradition is revolution” and “Not stolen conquered.”

From March 27 to 29, literature from the hate group was also found around St. Petersburg, Tampa and Ocala.
