“It Was Not Me!!!”: Rep. Swalwell Denies Interrupting Live MSNBC Interview With A Loud Fart

Rep. Eric Swalwell’s live interview with MSNBC’s Chris Matthews was briefly interrupted on Monday by what appeared to be someone passing gas.

“So far the evidence is uncontradicted that the president used taxpayer dollars to ask the Ukrainians to cheat,” the California Democrat said before an audible fart-type sound could be heard.

The former 2020 Democratic presidential candidate pushed forward with the interview despite the brief distraction.

Swalwell denied it was him who farted in a statement to Buzzfeed News congressional reporter Addy Baird.

“I’m really sorry about this but I have to ask if this was you or someone in the studio,” Baird asked the congressman.

“It was not me!!!!!” Swalwell replied. “Ha. And I didn’t hear it when I was speaking.”

Baird pushed back, noting that it appeared “he had heard it and are stifling a laugh.”

“I def did not hear it,” Swalwell again denied.

Many Conservative Twitter users blamed Swalwell for the fart noise while others insisted it was MSNBC Hardball host Chris Matthews who broke wind.
