Absolutely Nobody Showed Up To Welcome Mike Pence In Ireland

A video posted on Twitter by Herald and Irish Independent reporter, Ian Begley, shows that the streets of Doonbeg, Ireland, which is where Vice President Mike Pence’s great-grandmother grew up, were a virtual ghost town this week during Pence’s visit to his family’s ancestral home.

“Mike Pence expected to arrive in Doonbeg shortly. Hopefully gardai can manage the large crowds,” Begley wrote.

When former President Obama delivered a speech that touched upon his Irish heritage in Dublin in May 2011, the White House reported that “thousands” attended the address.

Video from his visit shows crowds warmly greeting the former president and former fist lady Michelle Obama everywhere they went, including his visit to the small town of Moneygall where his great, great grandfather lived.
