Republican strategist and The View co-host Ana Navarro blasted Rev. Franklin Graham, one of President Trump’s most vocal evangelical supporters, on Friday for his public call for Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg to repent for being gay and living a sinful life.
Buttigieg, who hopes to become the first openly gay president in American history, was targeted on Twitter this week by Graham in comments that called being gay a “sin, something to be repentant of, not something to be flaunted, praised or politicized.”
“Franklin Graham, who is one of Donald Trump’s allies and surrogates, came out against Mayor Pete for being gay, basically,” Navarro said on Friday.
“This is the same Franklin Graham, Rev. Franklin Graham who somehow excuses and justifies the Adulterer-in-Chief but comes out against a man who is a monogamous, gay man who has every right under American law today to marry who he loves,” she said, to applause and cheers from the studio audience.
Adding in Spanish, “Hypocrite!”
On Wednesday, Navarro tweeted: “Wake me up when Franklin Graham calls on Donald Trump to repent for being a serial sexual-assaulter and cheater.”

Graham’s comments came in response to Buttigieg saying that “God doesn’t have a political party.”
“But God does have commandments, laws & standards,” Graham tweeted.
“Mayor Buttigieg says he’s a gay Christian. As a Christian I believe the Bible which defines homosexuality as sin, something to be repentant of, not something to be flaunted, praised or politicized. The Bible says marriage is between a man & a woman—not two men, not two women.”
