McCain Gets Into Heated Twitter Fight With ‘Queer Eye’ Star Over Her Green New Deal ‘Lies’

Conservative commentator Meghan McCain and reality television star Bobby Berk got into a heated exchange on Twitter Wednesday over the false arguments McCain made against the progressive Green New Deal on “The View.”

“Today, u @MeghanMcCain were everything wrong w/journalism. Presented w/the fact that u were quoting incorrect data abt the #GreenNewDeal u continued 2 say it,” Berk, a star of the popular Netflix series “Queer Eye,” wrote on Twitter. “Why perpetuate the #fakenews problem we have in this country?”

Berk was referring to bogus, over-the-top arguments McCain made against the resolution while speaking with Washington governor and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Jay Inslee on Monday’s show.

Among other things, McCain argued that the Green New Deal “would cost $93 trillion or, to every person in this room, $600,000 for each of your households.”

“We’re talking about $51 trillion, the elimination of planes, the elimination of cows, a railway, no planes. I guess nobody can go to Hawaii anymore,” McCain falsely claimed.

Despite McCain’s claim that the proposal would eliminate planes, Politifact noted that airplanes aren’t mentioned at all.

“It doesn’t sound rational because those are the things that Donald Trump said,” Inslee replied with a look of frustration on his face. “We are not going to eliminate cars. We are not going to eliminate trains. We’re going to have what I have in my driveway today which is a blue GM Bolt made in Michigan with American workers.”

“Instead of getting in a snark fight on twitter, I welcome any opportunity to discuss with you why I think the green new deal is illogical and dangerous in person,” McCain replied to Berk on Wednesday.

Berk fired back, noting that “blatant lies are not a point of view honey!”

“[They] are just a way to rile the base just like Trump does,” he said. “I used to have a lot of respect for you and not lump you on with the likes of him, but you were literally repeating his lies and are becoming no better.”

“That is not what I was doing, I was pointing out the financial implications an average American would feel if the green new deal were enacted – but clearly I won’t be changing your mind,” McCain replied. “I also guess I won’t be watching queer eye anymore.”
