Ellen DeGeneres Fires Back At Eric Trump’s Crazy ‘Deep State’ Conspiracy Theory, Gets Savaged By Twitter

Eric Trump kicked off the new year by tweeting a screenshot of Twitter’s suggested users for him to follow: Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Ellen DeGeneres.

The president’s son concluded that this was evidence of an evil, deep state government undermining his father’s administration, obviously!

“Shocking. Once again, here are the @Twitter ‘suggestions’ of who I should follow. #DeepState,” Trump said in a since-deleted tweet.

In a video shared Wednesday night, DeGeneres debunked Trump’s right-wing theory.

“I have some questions,” DeGeneres said. “First of all, which one is Eric? Did he kill the elephant or the cheetah? Which one? Second, what is ‘deep state’? Is it near Dollywood? Because I’m in if it is.”

The theory, the talk-show host continued, is “just the craziest thing I’ve seen all week”—an impressive feat, she said, since she also recently saw “that movie with the lady having sex with the fish,” i.e., Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water. “And still this beats that.”

“Deep state is supposed to be a group of people they believe are trying to undermine Donald Trump—which is ridiculous, because no one has undermined Donald Trump more than Donald Trump,” she explained to members of her audience.

Although DeGeneres said she’s “honored” that Eric thinks she is “powerful enough to be part of a government conspiracy,” she’s also got some bad news: it’s simply not true.

“I am sorry to disappoint you; I am not part of the deep state,” DeGeneres said. “Even if somebody wanted me to be involved, I don’t have that kind of time. I’ve got my gay-agenda meetings on Mondays. On Wednesday, Beyoncé and I host an Illuminati brunch, and then Portia [de Rossi] and I on the weekends are desperately trying to have a baby.”

Twitter users also took turns roasting the president’s son:
