Nearly 24 hours after actress Alyssa Milano called on women to share their personal experiences with sexual harassment or sexual assault using the hashtag #MeToo to “give people a sense of the magnitude of the problem,” a Twitter spokeswoman confirmed on Monday that the hashtag has been tweeted nearly a half a million times.
If you’ve been sexually harassed or assaulted write ‘me too’ as a reply to this tweet. pic.twitter.com/k2oeCiUf9n

Among those sharing their stories are gay men who have been assaulted by their bosses, priests and others.
Here are some of their stories:
I've had straight bosses or men in power make comments or advances, followed by "You're gay, you know you like/want it" #MeToo

#MeToo I guess that he wanted to "prove a point" in that because I am gay, I deserved it. it's what I was "asking for."

A Parish priest (@RevDaniel) shared his story:
I survived rape as a teenager. In seminary I was assaulted and when I told someone ,was asked “Is that how you’ became gay?” I didn’t speak of it again publicly until now. #metoo

Victims shouldn’t be forced to speak of their assault. Neither should they be shamed into silence. I’m not ashamed of what was done to me. I’m just angry it still happens and that others are still shamed.

#MeToo. #MenToo. Women bear the brunt of #SexualAssault but men are survivors too. Like this (gay) man. And I stand with my sisters. #LGBTQ
