D.C. LGBT Activists Organizing ‘Gay Dance Party’ Outside Of Mike Pence’s House This Week

Vice President-elect Mike Pence can’t have seen this coming: a queer dance party is happening at his home, courtesy of the efforts of a gay rights group.

Set for Jan. 18, the event is being organized by WERK for Pence, a group that describes itself as “a grassroots movement using dance to promote peace”, and by Disrupt J20, which has stated that there will be “no peaceful transition” at the inauguration of Pence and Donald Trump.

“The homo/transphobic Mike Pence has graciously invited us to shake our booties and bodies in front of/around his house in Chevy Chase,” states the Facebook event page. “We plan on leaving behind [biodegradable] glitter and rainbow paraphernalia that he can NEVER forget.”

“That’s right, get ready to WERK it and tell Daddy Pence: homo/transphobia is not tolerated in our country…” the event description goes on. “Bring your flyest rainbow gear and your booty/body shaking skills!”

Pence defenders have also found their way onto the event page, many suggesting partygoers should be met with violence.

“I sure hope a semi truck barrels out of control right through your dance party!!” wrote one person.

“Do you vile dogs not have anything better to do?” asked another.

Nope, because apparently, the party at Pence’s is the place to be. Over 1,000 people have already marked their interest in the event.
