Will Beyoncé, Madonna, & Gaga Steal Trump’s Spotlight With Inauguration Day Anti-Trump Concert?

Robert Reich, the former Labor Secretary in President Bill Clinton’s administration, has suggested that pop stars like Beyonce, Katy Perry and Madonna should rally together to perform an anti-Trump concert in Washington, D.C., during the January 20 inauguration.

“Someone just suggested to me a televised ‘freedom concert’ to air at the same time as the inauguration — with huge celebrities like Beyoncé and Jay Z, Madonna, Katy Perry, Justin Timberlake, Gaga, Bruce Springsteen, and so on,” Reich wrote on Facebook. “Alec Baldwin MC’s the event, playing Trump as he does on SNL.”

Talk of a so-called “freedom concert” has spawned a Change.org petition, with nearly 55,000 signatures as of Thursday evening.

Here’s an exceprt from the Change.org petition:

Wouldn’t it be awesome to have a concert and telethon to raise funds for various progressive causes? It would air starting early on January 20th to compete directly with the inauguration.

I envision a televised and streaming on the internet “Freedom United Concert” with YUGE celebrities like: Beyoncé & Jay Z, Madonna, Katy Perry, Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Justin Timberlake, The Dixie Chicks, Neil Young, Lady Gaga, The Cast of Hamilton, The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, The Harlem Gospel Choir and many others.

The proceeds of the concert could be designated to a number of causes including the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, Lambda Legal, ADL, NAACP, CAIR, IRAP, SPLC, Environmental Defense Fund and many other organizations. Donors could call in or go online to donate and could choose which organizations they want to support.

It would be great if Alec Baldwin could co-host the event as himself or maybe even portray Donald Trump as he does on SNL. Other possible co-host: Rosie, Trevor Noah, Ellen, Tina Fey, Samantha Bee and many others.

Trump’s team is reportedly having such a hard time attracting celebrity performers that the President-elect has ordered a “Hail Mary” shakeup, according to the Wrap.

“Susan Bender, formerly a booker for Dancing with the Stars, will now have her talents tested in the task of securing A-list talent. So far, the only confirmed performers are a 16-year-old America’s Got Talent contestant and the Mormon Tabernacle,” reports Raw Story.
