Sports, for all the machismo involved, really do have the power to unite. Perhaps at no point was that more obvious than last night’s Chicago Bulls game, when a gay couple got engaged after an in-game proposal.
Jake Conrad worked with the Bulls to set up a proposal for his partner, Michael Holtzman, during a basketball game against the San Antonio Spurs. Michael is a lifelong Bulls fan and had told Conrad his dream was to a go to a game. Going a step further, Jake decided to make a few dreams come true.
After purchasing tickets, Jake contacted the Bulls to buy a fan experience package to propose before the game. Hearing the men’s story, the Bulls asked Jake about his openness to propose during the game. After he agreed, together they orchestrated a proposal during a timeout that involved Benny the Bull and the Luvabulls.
Michael ultimately gave Jake his “yes” and the crowd cheered for the happy couple.
“The Chicago Bulls are honored to have been part of such a special moment for this couple,” stated Chicago Bulls spokeswoman Julie Adler.
