Tom Ford Won’t Be Dressing First Lady Melania Trump: “She’s Not Necessarily My Image”

The shade of it all!

Tom Ford is the latest fashion designer to say he will not be flying to the White House or Trump Tower to personally design for the soon-to-be First Lady Melania Trump.

Ford joins a growing list of designers including Marc Jacobs and Sophie Theallet, who wrote an open letter urging their peers to avoid working with the new first lady.

“I was asked to dress her quite a few years ago and I declined; she’s not necessarily my image,” he told Joy Behar on The View Wednesday. “Even had Hillary won she shouldn’t be wearing my clothes, they’re too expensive. They’re not artificially expensive, it’s how much it costs to make these things. I think the first lady has to relate to anybody.”

The out designer noted that he only worked with Michelle Obama once, when she was going to Buckingham Palace to meet with Queen Elizabeth II.

”She was going to Buckingham Palace for dinner with the queen and I thought that was appropriate,” Ford said. “I live in London so that makes sense. And it was an honor to dress her.”
