This Teen Just Came Out As Gay To Family On Disneyland’s Splash Mountain

A 16-year-old from California made a giant splash when she decided to come out to her family on a trip to Disney.

Gina says she’s known she was gay for about a year and had been thinking of ways to tell her family about her sexuality in a way that reflected who she is.

“I am not the type of person to have a deep, sit-down conversation, so I wanted to tell them in a lighthearted and fun way,” Gina told Buzzfeed.

Gina came up with what she described as the “perfect” plan – she made a sign saying “I’m gay!” and took it on a trip to the Disneyland resort in California with her mom, where she posed proudly for the camera on Splash Mountain.

She came up with what she called a “perfect” plan, which involved making a sign saying “I’m gay!” that she would flash to the waiting camera on the Splash Mountain ride.

“I love funny ride photos so I figured I could make the sign just in case I decided to go for it, and I did,” she said.

Her mom, who was on the ride with her, saw the picture and sent it to her dad and brother. She said her family’s reaction was “so positive.”

“My dad and brother said they were already 70% sure I was gay but my mom had no idea,” she said. “But I knew they would be super accepting.”

Gina later tweeted the photo, captioned: “This is how I came out yesterday lolol.”

The picture has since gone viral.

“I never expected it to blow up like this,” she said. “This Twitter account was just my spam account where I posted random fangirl stuff but I decided it couldn’t hurt to post it and the result was absolutely amazing.”
