Spanish Olympic figure skater Javier Raya has publicly come out as gay with a heartwarming photo of him kissing his boyfriend.
The 25-year-old pro athlete, who competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, shared the following caption with his Instagram photo: “Many of you know, others can imagine by the pictures and others will be surprised, but I have to say that right now I feel like the luckiest person in the world! Thank you @nicholsondrew.”
Muchos lo sabéis, otros os lo habéis imaginado por las fotos, y a otros os sorprenderá no solo que tenga pareja sino porque sea un chico, pero tengo que decir que ahora mismo me siento la persona más afortunada del mundo. Gracias @nicholsondrew Te quiero ❤️ Many of you knows, others can imagine by the pictures and others will be surprised, but I have to say that right now I feel like the luckiest person in the world! Last month, water polo player Victor Gutierrez, who will compete in the upcoming Rio Olympics, came out as gay on the cover of Shangay magazine.
“I hope my coming out serves to break a taboo within the sport,” Gutierrez said. “You have to be judged not by your sexuality but by your sporting merit.”
