A gay cyclist shut down an anti-gay preacher’s homophobic rant by telling him he was gay and didn’t need his “f*cking god” to love himself.
“I walk through Glasgow holding hands with my boyfriend all the time, and we have never experienced any homophobia,” said Emlyn Pearce, the man who recorded the incident and later shared the video on Facebook. “So to walk down the main shopping street and hear a man shouting that ‘the 99%’ need to stand up to the ‘1%’ who are gay was very sad and very scary.”
Pearce took out his cell phone and began filming the confrontation between the preacher and the cyclist, who later identified himself as Ryan Vance.
“I’m gay, I’m gay, so say that to me,” Vance told the Biblical ranter.
As Vance turned to leave, the preacher yelled out to him: “God still loves you.”
Vance fired back, “I love me, I don’t need a f*cking god to do it.”
The crowd burst into applause as the street preacher struggled to find a response.
