Sam Smith Responds To Dustin Lance Black Tweeting ‘Stop Texting My Fiancé’ After Oscars Mishap

On Monday, Sam Smith responded to Dustin Lance Black’s Tweet calling him out the “Stay With Me” singer for wrongly claiming he was the first openly gay man to win an Oscar.

“I read an article a few months ago by Sir Ian McKellen, and he said no openly gay man had won an Oscar,” Smith noted during his Oscars acceptance speech. “And if this is the case, even it isn’t the case, I want to dedicate this to the LGBT community all around the world….”

That’s when the Milk screenwriter slammed Smith on Twitter, saying: “Hey @SamSmithWorld, if you have no idea who I am, it may be time to stop texting my fiancé.”

Sadly, Smith did not offer up any more details about his text sessions with Dustin Lance Black’s Fiancé, Olympic Diver Tom Daley.
