Miley Cyrus Urges Fans To Troll Senator Who Told Gays: At Least You’re Not Executed Here

Miley Cyrus is one of the many celebrities who has spoken out against Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act, a law that allows Indiana businesses to deny service to members of the LBGTQ community.

After calling Indiana Governor Mike Pence (R) an “asshole” on Instagram, Miley Cyrus turned her eyes on to her next target: Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.). Cyrus shared Cotton’s phone number with her 19 million Twitter followers urging them to “stir some shit up” after he said gay Americans should have “perspective” about real discrimination.

Miley tweeted, “Senator Cotton thinks gay community needs to get ‘perspective’ cuz ‘In Iran they hang you for the crime of being gay.’ Let’s stir some sh— up!” She then posted Cotton’s phone number and encouraged her followers to call him, writing, “Happy Hippies call & express why freedom is important to us & our country!”

“These laws are modeled on that and a lot of the concerns of discrimination haven’t been borne to bear over the last 20 years,” Cotton said. “But I also think it’s important that we have a sense of perspective about our priorities. In Iran they hang you for the crime of being gay.”

It didn’t take long for Cyrus’ followers to fill up Sen. Cotton’s voice mailbox. She posted a recording of what happens when you try to call his office to her Instagram account last night:

“They are dinosaurs, and they are dying off,” Cyrus told Time magazine earlier this week. “We are the new generation, and with that will come so much. We are moving forward. As much as we get distracted by stupid laws that make us feel like we’re regressing, we’re not. We are moving forward because it’s our turn as young people. It’s a new rights movement.”

Earlier this week, Cyrus praise Apple CEO Tim Cook after he voiced his opposition to Arkansas anti-gay “religious freemdom” bill.
