LGBT Protesters Attacked By Homophobic Rob Ford Supporters In Toronto

Toronto’s disgraced crack-smoking Mayor Rob Ford‘s annual Ford Fest, erupted into a violent confrontation between a group of LGBT protesters who came to voice their discontent with the mayor.

According to CBC News:

Ford drew heat from the LGBT community again recently after he remained seated while city council gave a standing ovation to organizers of Toronto’s World Pride festival. He did not answer questions from reporters about why he didn’t stand along with fellow councillors, but said he’s not homophobic.

“He’s a disgrace,” said protester Kevin Speight. “He’s embarrassing our city.”

Huffington Post Canada adds:

Journalists at the scene said that thousands were in attendance at Thomson Memorial Park in Scarborough, Ont. when a so-called “Queeruption” arrived and was subjected to insults and physical force from people at the scene.

The group’s leader, activist Poe Liberado, told CP24 that the protest had a “really hateful” reception at the event.

“We are told to go home, we are told ‘Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve’ and other hateful slurs,” she told the network.

One of the LGBT activists attacked at the event told GlobalNews that he was hit in the forehead and grabbed by the neck, as a photo circulated on twitter showed:

Several Ford supporters grabbed the signs being held by LGBT protesters and tore them up, throwing the pieces to the ground:
