Burger King is feeling the homophobic flames of hate today, following the burger fast food chain’s introduction of the “Proud Whopper” to celebrate San Francisco Pride this weekend.
The Proud Whopper Sandwich is being sold for a very limited time at the 1200 Market Street BK in San Francisco, CA, near where the city held its 44th annual gay pride parade.
Fernando Machado, who heads global brand management for Burger King, said in a phone interview with ABC news the “Proud Whopper” will remain on the menu until Thursday.
Burger King recently said it was retiring its “Have It Your Way” slogan in favor of “Be Your Way.”
BK shared the following tweet today using the new slogan #BeYourWay:
We are who we are. And it’s awesome. #BeYourWay pic.twitter.com/HABi34JNil

As word of Burger King’s “Proud Whopper” spread online, many twitter and facebook users couldn’t contain their homophobia, tweeting calls for boycotts against the fast food chain.
So now @BurgerKing has created a Gay Whopper! No more BK for me! I'll "Have it my way" somewhere else! #tcot http://t.co/DG0lpoNXDX
