Watch: Storm Chaser Survives Dramatic Encounter With Massive Tornado In Tupelo, MS

A powerful storm system that spawned several violent and destructive tornadoes since Sunday, has brought the overall death toll to at least 28, with 13 killed Monday and 17 Sunday in a band stretching from Oklahoma to Alabama.

Tupelo, Mississippi was the latest city to be ravaged by a violent tornado on Monday. The city’s mayor says a large tornado that struck Monday afternoon damaged homes, downed trees and power lines and injured several people.

A storm chaser was caught in the cross hair’s of Monday’s violent tornado as it raced towards Tupelo, Mississippi.
