Fox News & Gay Haters Rejoice After A&E Calls Off ‘Duck Dynasty’ Suspension

Little more than a week after A&E network suspended “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson for vitriolic remarks about homosexuality, the cable channel said Friday they had lifted his suspension after hundreds of petitions were launched in support of Robertson and the entire Robertson clan suggested they would not be willing to keep filming the series without him.

The suspension was initially triggered by Robertson’s controversial interview with GQ magazine, in which he made anti-gay statements reflecting his religious beliefs. When the interviewer asked Robertson what he thought was sinful, he replied, “Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.

After discussions with the Robertson family, as well as consulting with numerous advocacy groups, A&E has decided to resume filming Duck Dynasty later this spring with the entire Robertson family,” A&E said in a statement.

GLAAD responded to the decision with this statement: “Phil Robertson should look African American and gay people in the eyes and hear about the hurtful impact of praising Jim Crow laws and comparing gay people to terrorists. If dialogue with Phil is not part of next steps then A+E has chosen profits over African American and gay people – especially its employees and viewers.

In addition to Phil’s homophobic remarks in his GQ interview, a video surfaced online showing Phil delivering an extremely homophobic sermon. He said:

First they say, ‘There is no God. Get him out of your mind. Then they bow down to birds, animals and reptiles, and each other. And the first thing you see coming out of them is gross sexual immorality. They will dishonor their bodies with one another, degrade each other. Uh, is that going on in the United States of America? Look around. God’s not there… And boy is there some immorality going on around here. Does it get worse?

Women with women, men with men, they committed indecent acts with one another, and they received in themselves the due penalty for their perversions.

They’re full of murder, envy, strife, hatred. They are insolent, arrogant, God-haters. They are heartless, they are faithless, they are senseless, they are ruthless. They invent ways of doing evil. That’s what you have 235 years, roughly, after your forefathers founded the country. So what are you gonna do Pennsylvania? Just run with them? You’re doing to die. Don’t forget that.

Here is a video of his sermon:

Fox News anchors could not contain their excitement over the news of A&E’s suspension reversal:

Duck is the No. 2 series on cable TV, behind The Walking Dead, and ranks among the top 30 of all TV shows with an average of 13.4 million viewers, according to USA Today.
