(Watch) Gay Filmmakers And Comedians Help Boy Scouts Earn Filmmaking Merit Badges

Todd Bieber, UCB Comedy’s Director of Content and Production, made a wonderful short video on his experience as an Eagle Scout and a volunteer with the Scouts who is upset about the decision of the BSA to exclude openly gay scouts and leaders. Bieber wrote, “I’m a filmmaker and an Eagle Scout. Recently, while serving as merit badge counselor of Cinematography Merit Badge, I invited several gay filmmakers to help teach some Boy Scouts about making movies.”
Bieber discusses his feelings on the BSA’s bigotry and his found memories of becoming an Eagle scout, an accomplishment he cherishes.

After he was asked to be the cinematography merit badge adviser for his old Scout troop, he welcomed the idea as an opportunity to introduce the young Scouts to some of his friends, including gay comedy writers and filmmakers who work at shows link “Saturday Night Live,” “Late Show” and The Onion.

The short film features Chris Kelly (Saturday Night Live), Denis O’Hare (American Horror Story, True Blood), Will Graham (Onion News Network), Matthew Kirsch (Late Show with David Letterman), Elizabeth Koe (Onion News Network), Michael Hartney (Upright Citizens Brigade).
