First Came Grindr for the Gay Boys, Now Comes Parlez for the Ladies
A new dating app hopes to revolutionize the way lesbian and bi-curious ladies meet each other by using the same geo-location capabilities of Grindr, but goes a few steps further to help you find your right match.
Parlez (pronounced par-lay), is an Indiegogo-funded dating/hookup app for lesbian, bisexual and bi-curious women. It is the brain child of NYC entrepreneur and Lez Factor founder Milly Dubouchet.
According to their Indiegogo page, the app uses geo-location data from Facebook, Twitter, and Foursquare and pings you when other users are near. Parlez then gives you tips on how to make a proper approach and suggestions on different ways to approach your interested mate. They describe it as a sort of mini wing-woman sitting on your shoulder, whispering words of encouragement in your ear when you’re out there navigating the dating scene.
Dubouchet explains that it doesn’t tell you what to say, but it will give you recommendations based on whether you want to make a playful, situational, pick-her-brain or direct approach. For instance, if you want to go the pick-her-brain route, it suggests asking something like, “Hi there. Can I get your quick opinion about something?”
The app will also send out information about events. The app raised $8,741 in an Indiegogo fundraiser which initially asked for an 8,000 goal. The app is expected to launch in June.
