Why You Should Be Flying JetBlue: Gay Couple Gets The Royal Treatment On Their Wedding Day

A gay couple had the flight of their lives, courtesy of 3 amazing JetBlue flight attendants.

Back in December, fiances Liam and Rick were aboard JetBlue flight 350 from Burbank, CA, to New York City, when they happened to mention their wedding plans to two of their flight attendants.

The three flight attendants aboard their flight sprang into action and went above and beyond to make the happily engaged couple’s flight one they would never forget. They first presented the boys with a ‘beautifully wrapped’ blue basket of JetBlue snacks and a hand-written note from the three. The captain then joined in wishing the couple a congratulations over the plane’s P.A. system.

I don’t even think it’s going above and beyond,” said crew member Dan. “It’s just about doing something human, and caring for other people.”

The crew truly did go above and beyond to make the couple’s wedding day one they would never forget. But that was just the beginning, as the boys explain in the letter they sent JetBlue management, the crew went yet another step beyond amazing for them:

[quote_box author=”” profession=””] Dear Mr. Barger:

We write to express our heartfelt appreciation for the flight of a lifetime that my husband and I recently took on JetBlue Flight 350 from Burbank to New York City.

On December 10, 2012, we were traveling on Flight 350 to the beautiful New York City where we decided to get married. Once we were on board, the entire crew of flight attendants–Virginia, Nichola and Dan–made us feel at home. They were friendly, pleasant, and professional. During a chance encounter outside the laboratory, we had a wonderful conversation about our trip to New York City with Virginia and Nichola, who kindly offered congratulations on our engagement, shared the joy and excitement of our wedding, and suggested several places of interest for our visit. We were so impressed with the personal attention and care our JetBlue flight attendants had given us. But that was only the beginning of our flight of a lifetime with JetBlue 350.

Shortly after we returned to our seats, our flight attendants surprised us! Virginia, Nichola and Dan all came to our seats with a beautifully wrapped blue basket of the delicious JetBlue snacks and a congratulations card with handwritten notes from each of them expressing their best wishes for our wedding. We were truly speechless! A picture is worth a thousand words. This lovely and indelible moment was captured on camera for us to remember about the journey of our marriage. (We would appreciate your forwarding to Virginia, Nichola, and Dan the photos we have enclosed herein.) As our plane was approaching the JFK International Airport for landing, the Captain of Flight 350 joyfully announced our engagement to the entire plane and offered congratulations on our wedding. Love was in the air — literally and figuratively!

Believe it or not, our amazing experience with JetBlue did not end after the landing. Midway through the flight, we learned from Virginia that the New York State law requires a marriage witness. We almost panicked because we did not yet have a witness. But our stress quickly dissipated when Virginia, a longtime resident in New York City, suggested serving as our witness during her time off from work. We were genuinely moved by such an incredible act of kindness and by such a beautiful human being!

On a chilly morning of 12/12/12, the day of our marriage ceremony, Virginia rode her bike to the City Hall and brought cakes to celebrate our wedding. We were simply overjoyed. No words could ever express our gratitude for the love we received from her. Virginia was not only our flight attendant and the witness to our marriage, she has become our friend for life.

From the moment we boarded on JetBlue Flight 350, it has become part of our journey of marriage. What an exceptional crew, what an unforgettable experience, and what a heartwarming story of love! Thank you, JetBlue, for giving us such sweet memories to cherish for years to come. It is truly the flight of a lifetime for us.

With much love,

Rick and Liam[/quote_box]
